February 3 – May 2: The Black List Project is an ambitious and illuminating multimedia adventure of the 21st century. Conceived by photographer Timothy Greenfield-Sanders and journalist Elvis Mitchell, the continuing project offers piercing insights into what it means to be African American in contemporary society. As inspiring as the collective narrative of the black experience is the revelation of the individual character in Greenfield-Sanders and Mitchell’s portraits. This exhibit will feature portraits of Beverly Johnson, Debra Lee, Dr. Michael Lomax, Hill Harper, John Legend, LaTanya Richardson, Lee Daniels and Whoopi Goldberg. For the first time in Los Angeles, this exhibit will feature portraits from Volumes One ,Two and Three- Kareem Abdul-Jabbar; Angela Davis; Suzanne dePasse; Laurence Fishburne; Lou Gossett, Jr.; Hill Harper; Beverly Johnson; Suzan-Lori Parks; LaTanya Richardson; Chris Rock; Maya Rudolph; Slash; Keenan Ivory Wayans; and Serena Williams.
